Sitting and Observing

We have a few favorite sit spots for observing the land, but we admittedly don’t always take the time to enjoy them. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the never-ending list of to dos. And it’s especially tough to take a break in that last hour of light when the weather’s a bit cooler and there’s still so much outside to finish up.

But it’s important. Of all the elements involved in building a homestead and working with the land, it’s crucial to sit and observe regularly and often. It allows us to see patterns and make connections we didn’t notice before. It gives us a new sense of clarity in our intentions. And it serves as a constant reminder of why we chose this kind of life.
